Meet Shalise Gallaher
Shalise grew up on her family farm, a breeding and training operation of reining horses in central PA.
Actively involved in 4-H and show circuits, she gained experience in training, colt starting and show experience in Reining, Carriage Driving, All Around, Team Penning, Endurance, Saddle Seat, Barrels, Jumping, and Eventing. Shalise was introduced to Parelli Natural Horsemanship at age 7, and at 10, she traveled to Colorado to study under Pat Parelli himself for 3 summers. This opened opportunities to learn under David and Karen O'Conner, Phillip Dutton, Boyd Martin, Karen Rohlf, and Craig Johnson, among other notable horseman. In 2009, Shalise attended the University of Kentucky, graduating with a degree in Equine Management and a minor in Ag Economics. During college, she worked on various Thoroughbred farms in sales, was a neonatal and surgery Vet Tech at Hagyard, and field tech for Dr. Van Balen. She was also an assistant trainer at the Makers Mark Secretariat Center for 3 years, training and aiding in the adoption of 50+ OTTBs a year.
Upon graduation, she went on to work for Double Dan Horsemanship as Business Manager and Assistant Trainer, planning events, expos, and clinics across the country for 2 years. In 2014, Shalise left the position to challenge herself as a trainer to compete in the American Horsewomens Competition, where she finished top ten. She then went on to study under founder of Cowboy Dressage and World Renowned trainer Eitan Beth Halachmy in CA in the area of Cowboy Dressage. She won reserve and grand champion at the World Cowboy Dressage show in 2015 then went on to train under Hall of Fame Cowboy and Co-Founder of Cowboy Dressage Jack Brainard in Texas before setting her sights overseas. Desiring to get back into the Thoroughbred industry and gain more international experience, Shalise traveled to Australia to work at Arrowfield Stud with Mares and Foals for 6 months, then moved on to exercise riding at Godolphin, and finished her time in Australia at Blair Richardson's breaking in and Pre-training center as rider and foreman for over 50+ horses.
In the spring of 2019 Shalise relocated her business to Columbus, NC. Her established network in the TB industry affords her the opportunity to offer top quality Thoroughbreds to the foothills community. In addition to promoting and setting OTTBs up for success in their second careers, she offers training and sales for all breeds and disciplines.
